Criminal Mind and Behaviour

A criminal is a person who has broken the law, but there are many different types of crimes that criminals will commit. We are all aware of the more commons crimes, just to name a few, so that people can be more aware! Crimes range from Larceny, robbery, burglary, fraud, abduction, rape etc.

When it comes to the biological theory of crime, it could be caused by things such a brain chemistry, Hormones, or genetics.

Our brain chemistry involves a neurotransmitter called Serotonin. This is the chemical that the brain uses to affect our moods. People with depression or other mental illnesses mostly lack serotonin, which keeps someone’s mood levels low and as a result some people will transform that into an act of unlawful crimes.

Another reason for criminals to resort to crime could be because this person has come from an underprivileged background and as a result of that, they lack education due to the poverty in the family. We all know that someone who has never gotten an education might resort to crime in order to meet their personal needs or materialistic wants and needs. These people feel helpless and see unlawful activity as a less challenging way to meet their needs.

Kids who were bullied from a younger age may also result to crime due to past trauma and anger causing them to lash out these emotions on others.

Another reason why criminals resort to criminal acts is a lack of guardianship or guidance when they were younger, being taught to commit crime by other adults or media influence and other societal influences can also cause these behaviours.

These factors cause lack of satisfaction in the person's life.

Criminals are just like us, they are human and they are just as terrified to commit the crime as you are to be the victim! Criminals make mistakes and just by taking a simple self-defence class, can guide you better when it comes to an unfortunate event.

Stay safe and be aware.
